Farm Equipment Service (FES) was established in 1970 by Roger Howell who, after working in the trade for 7 years decided to go it alone and started an 'on farm' repair sevice working from a Morris 1000 pick up, servicing mainly (and at that time, plentiful), local farmers.

With a couple of old farm buildings as a base, these premises gradually evolved to end up as they are today with a well equipped workshop, storage buildings, and a modern shop, office and stores unit.

Located just of the A367 there is no prominence for passing moterists so buisness mainly is derived from recommendation, regular advertising in the farming press and the well used FES website generating on average 40-50 hits per day.

Despite many years of trading, and, over the years, holding various tractor franchises including Zetor, Fiat (and for a short period New Holland) and Same, FES has remained a relatively small service based organisation which offers and feels that customers still appreciate the indivudal attention that FES are able to give customers.

With a staff of 2 factory trained technicians in the workshop, supported by Thelma incharge of accounts & stores, and with Roger managing the day to day running of the business (who can be seen getting his hands dirty when circumstances dictate!), and Jackie (spouse and business partner) keeping an eye on the finances, FES are able to keep overheads to a minimum ensuring charge out rates remain below average for the agricultural engineering industry.

Although mainly grassland/dairy farm orientated, FES offer a comprehensive sales portfolio with LANDINI, KRONE and McHALE forming the main focus of the business, but, over the years, FES have developed business relationships with many major manufacturers and suppliers, so they are always worth an enquiry when checking prices.

FES take a pride in their sales of used stock too, which form an important aspect of the business and, items retailed are checked, serviced and, where possible, tested before sale. This on the basis that companies are often judged by the quality of their second hand retailed goods.
